Capt. Ranjit Roy

Capt. Ranjit Roy started his career as Deck cadet ( Direct Entry 20 th Batch ) with The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd., only  Government Undertaking Shipping Company in India. He holds his Master ( Foreign Going ) Certificate of Competency ( i.e the highest certificate of competency by International standard ) to Command a vessel as Master ( i.e. Captain of a Ship ).He has completed his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Calcutta. He sailed for about 26 years on board in different types of ships [e.g. Container ships, Bulk Carriers, Tankers, Oil Bulk Ore, Self Unloader, General Cargo Cum Heavy Lift ( Jumbo Derrick - Max capacity 600 Metric Tonnes ), Off Shore vessel and Passenger ships etc.  as different ranks from Third Mate , Second Mate , Chief Mate & Master.

 

From 1999, whenever he was on leave he used to work as Visiting Faculty in several Marine Institute in Kolkata( e.g. Seacom Marine College, Trident College of Marine Technology, Maritime Academy of India and Indian Maritime University ) from time to time giving training on different STCW’95 /2010 ( Standard of Training Certification and Watch keeping ) 2010  courses ( e.g. ECDIS, SHIP MANOEUVRING SIMULATOR, RADAR OBSERVER COURSE, ARPA,PST , PSSR,RANSCO, NCV, Second mate ( FG) Function etc.).

 

 

He has serve as acting Principal of Trident College of Marine Technology in absence of Principal for 15 days.  He has serve as acting Principal of NITMAS in absence of Principal for 15 days on 2013.

He has served as an External Nautical Examiner, MMD, Kolkata, taking oral examination of Second Mate         ( F.G.) and (NCV ) Near Coastal Vessel candidates.

He served as a Coordinator for General Purpose Rating Under Eastern Academic Council under Board of Seafarers Trust for about a year.

He was ex- examiner of Maulana Abdul Kalam University of Technology ( MAKAUT ).

He served as an examiner for General Purpose crew and Catering Crew under Board of Seafarer trust.

He served as an examiner for Inland Master under Inland Vehicle Department under Board of Seafarer trust.
