TNU/ NITMAS organised a unique and exceptional Seminar on "Raising the Safety Standard in International Shipping" and “Secrets of Success in a Maritime Career" on Campus.

The School of Maritime Studies at The Neotia University (TNU) and Neotia Insititute of Technology Management and Science (NITMAS) organised a unique and exceptional Seminar on "Raising the Safety Standard in International Shipping" and “Secrets of Success in a Maritime Career" on Campus.

Mr. Debasis Mazumder, having sea experience of 11 years, Ex-Head of U.K. Ship Register, Govt of U.K., Ex-CEO and Head of Flag State- St.Kitts & Nevis and currently a business acumen and CEO of Seed Maritime, U.K, was the Chief Guest and  addressed the Cadets and the Faculty present.

The programme commenced with a professional and resplendent Guard of Honour by the Cadets for the Chief Guest. The Programme was then inaugurated with an official lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Vice Chancellor, Director-School of Maritime Studies, the Chief Guest and the Registrar-TNU. Hon'ble Vive Chancellor Prof Ashok Kolaskar then addressed the Cadets, stressing on the need and meaning of Safety not only in Shipping but in every walk of life.

After a detailed insight into the illustrious and unique career path of Chief Guest Mr.Debasis Mazumdar provided by Prof. Amitava Banerjee, there was a brilliant session of audio visual presentations and interactions  organised by the Speaker- the presentations served, with examples to show how an aspiring Cadet should conduct himself during his formative years, the path he should follow, the way he should build his character and academic base, the importance of ethics and integrity,  International Shipping Safety compromises with practical and visual examples, latest developments in Marine Technology and Statute, and lastly, a Fun Quiz in which everyone participated. Finally, the Chief Guest was felicitated by Director-SOMS and Registrar TNU. Lunch for all Dignitaries followed at the end of the programme.

An exceptional experience for all, listening to a Speaker of such magnitude, and the Cadets received an immense upgrade by way of knowledge and experience.
