A Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or relevant subjects with ≥ 55% marks or minimum ‘B’ grade for the unreserved category of students and ≥ 50% marks or equivalent grade for reserved category students.

 

The Department of Biotechnology happens to be one of the most thriving Departments at The Neotia University. This research-oriented unit has several well-equipped research laboratories including an independent and dedicated research laboratory (Microbial Ecology research laboratory) that makes the Department a perfect place for practicing research with worthy objectives. The Department has received several research grants including an externally funded grant that leads to enriching the infrastructure of the Department substantially. The learned faculty members of the Department make sure that the scholars obtain an all-round knowledge in the context of basic and applied aspects of cutting edge research. They are always helped to develop special skills by providing an effective course on research methodology that orient the scholars to practice research comprehensively. ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Applications shall be invited through announcements by the University preferably twice in a year at the time of semester begins. The interested applicant/s may submit the application for the admission in Ph.D program in Biotechnology to the Registrar Office of the University. R&D committee shall get in touch with the Controller of Examination section to conduct the admission entrance test (written mode). In the entrance test, the 50% questions shall be set from the research methodology and the other 50% questions shall be set from different topics of Biotechnology. The qualified candidates shall be called for the personal interview. On the basis of the performance of the candidate in the interview, the candidate may be considered for enrollment in the PhD program in Biotechnology of the university.

 

EXPERT COMMITTEE

At the end of every six months, candidate’s research progress shall be evaluated by the research advisory committee (RAC) created for each scholar. RAC shall suggest ways to improve the quality of research work of the scholar. RAC shall be made by considering five faculty members in which one expert must be from outside of TNU. The report of RAC shall be submitted to the R&D committee. The R&D committee shall keep the records and further shall forward the same to Controller of Examinations (COE). The RAC shall be following the PhD guideline of TNU while functioning.

 

CAREER PROSPECTS

Candidates with Ph.D degree may join Colleges/Universities as an Assistant Professor to start their career in academics. Candidates with same qualification may be also hired by several government and private organizations in capacities such Healthcare scientist, Clinical bio-technologist, Clinical research associate, Biomedical scientist, Forensic scientist, Research scientist, Scientific laboratory officials, Toxicologist etc. There is an abundant scope remains for the persons having PhD degree to start their career as an entrepreneur also.
