Healthcare has become one of India’s largest sectors, both in terms of revenue and employment. The expected healthcare market size in India estimated to be US$ 372 billion or INR: 26992320000000.00 (as per 20/3/2021, 1 USD= 72.56 INR) by 2022. (Ref. Source: www.ibef.org).

Master in Hospital Management (MHM) at The Neotia University (TNU) trains students in Managerial and Administrative roles including ethical and leadership skills, critical thinking, decision-making, and relationship building with team, staff, and patients in Hospitals and in Healthcare Institute. Healthcare comprises hospitals, medical devices, clinical trials, outsourcing, telemedicine, medical tourism, health insurance, and medical equipment. The Course curriculum design by Academic and Industry experts covers conceptual and quantitative skills needed by future managers in high-performing contemporary hospitals. Case-based industry knowledge along with mandatory Industrial training and Internship programs at various Hospitals and Healthcare institutes is part of the curriculum. Industrial experts, academicians, doctors, and hospital personnel visit the campus, to train students in research and industrial opportunities. Hospitals organize campus placement drives to select deserving students.

Dissertation and Internship:(RC)                                                        20 Credits

Total Credits of the Program: 150

Each student is required to submit a dissertation involving research in any area of Hospital Management of his/her interest. The dissertation includes a critical review of literature on the specific area of interest, data collection, and analysis on the selected problem/s along with his or her critical views in terms of findings and recommendations. The dissertation must be completed in all sense the second year  of study to the degree of the University.

FACULTY MEMBERS

Prof. Niloy Sarkar, Professor & Dean of Academics, Life Sciences

Prof. Sarkar has 16 years of teaching and an overall 6 years of industry experience. He has been involved in research over a period of 13 years in various fields including Social Science including Management areas, Public Health, Healthcare Quality, Mental Health, Patient Safety, AI in Health Care, and Epidemiology. He did his Ph.D. in Social Science and Healthcare Management. He has 10 International Publications and has attended numerous National and International Conferences organized by various groups.

Mr. Chandranath Chakraborty, Assistant Professor

Mr. Chakraborty has been teaching for 2 years now. He has an industry experience of sixteen years. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare and Hospital Management.

Dr. Santanu Ray Chaudhuri, Assistant Professor

Dr. Chaudhuri has 19 years of teaching experience. He has done his Ph.D. in Economics where he specialized in Economic Inequality and Human Capital & Growth. He has 12 years of research experience in Economic Growth, Human Capital & Inequality, Labour Economics, and Environmental Economics as well as 2 years of industry experience. He has had various awards and accolades bestowed upon him like a State Funded Scholarship, selected as a team member in the Capacity Building Project organized by Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, Resource Person on ‘Macroeconomics and Public Policy’ at South State Gujarat University, Surat and Resource Person on ‘Illicit Fund Transfer’, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. He has 7 National and 6 International Publications. He has attended 2 National Conferences.

Dr. Koel Mitra, Assistant Professor

Dr. Mitra has 6 years of teaching and more than 2 years of research experience. She did her Ph.D. in Digital Humanities and her areas of research include Literary, Linguistic, and Critical Theory, Latin American Literatures, Comparative Literature, and Innovative Learning Techniques. She was awarded the University Gold Medal for securing the First class First position in M.A., the Prof. Gopal Halder Memorial Gold Centered Silver Medal for securing the First Position at the M.A. Final Examination, and the University Gold Medal for securing the First class First position in B.A. (Hons.) in Comparative Literature, Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Apart from this, she had won the Second Prize in the 12th Five Year Plan Hackathon Organized by The Planning Commission, Government of India at IIT, Kharagpur. She has had 1 National and 4 International Publications in her name.

Dr. Debobani Biswas, Assistant Professor

Dr. Biswas has been teaching for twenty years and has a collective research experience of eight years. She did her Ph.D. in English Literature and her research area was “African American Drama”. To date, she has had two international and 1 National Publication to her name. Apart from this, she has attended 5 International Conferences.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Assistant Professor

Dr. Ahmad has 4 years of teaching experience. He holds a Doctorate in Commerce and his research area was Marketing. He has 12 National and International Publication. He has attended 3 National and 5 International Conferences organized by various groups. 

Ms. Atrayee Bandyopadhyay, Teaching Associate

Ms. Bandyopadhyay has 3 years of teaching experience. She holds a Post-Graduation degree in Public System Management (MPSM) specialization in Health Care & Hospital Management.

Ms. Aliya Halim, Teaching Associate

Ms. Halim has been teaching for more than 6 years now. She has a collective research experience of more than 5 years in “Linguistics / Translation Studies”. She did her M.A. with a specialization in English and Linguistics. Earlier, she had done her B.Ed. in English as well. She was awarded the UGC Maulana Azad National Fellowship in 2012. To date, she has six National Publications on her name. She has attended 3 International and 2 National Conferences organized by various groups.   

Ms. Ranjana Chattopadhyay, Teaching Associate

Ms. Chattopadhyay has 15 years of teaching experience. She did her M.A. in English.

Dr. Tridib Chatterjee, Faculty (Part-Time)

Dr. Chatterjee has 4 years of teaching and 16 years of industry experience. He has research experience of 4 years in health-related areas. He did his MPhil in Health & Hospital Management from BITS, Pilani, and MBBS from Kolkata. He has been to 22 National and 2 International Conferences.

Mr. Sushmit Bhattacharya, Soft Skills Trainer, Training & Placement

Mr. Bhattacharya has 16 years of teaching and 2 years of industry experience. He is currently pursuing his MA in English. He has been recognized by the AIMA, New Delhi as an Accredited Management Teacher.

Ambuja Neotia operates, The Bhagirathi Neotia Woman & Child Care Centre, several branches of the infertility treatment unit Genome-The Fertility Centre spread across West Bengal and neighboring states, the multispecialty hospital, Neotia Getwel Healthcare Centre in Siliguri, and outlets of Neotia Mediplus, diagnostic centers in Kolkata, thus providing training and employment opportunities for the Students.

Master in Hospital Management (MHM) is a job-oriented program. Postgraduates shall have equal opportunities in getting jobs in Private hospitals and Government Hospitals. Presently, the need for personnels likes, Assistant Superintendent (Non - Medical / Medical), Hospital Managers, Project Managers in District Health Programs, is need of the hour. Post Graduates shall also have many opportunities in the field of Medical Tourism, Telemedicine, and Health Insurance or in different projects of International organizations like WHO, UNICEF, and more.
