M. Sc. In Applied Physics 2

Candidates with B.Sc (H) degree or equivalent in Science (Physics/Nanoscience) with a minimum of 55% marks and clear TNU admission test/Personal Interview

M.Sc. in Applied Physics is an interdisciplinary area of study drawing on talents from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The course will cover all important parts of Materials, which students and practicing engineers should know. The course shall address both theoretical and practical aspects of Applied Physics with a specialized branch of advanced Nanotechnology, Quantum Computing, Medical Radiology, Condensed Matter. The platform includes mainly device Physics, Material Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Interface and Colloid Science, Applied Physics, Nutritional Science, Pharmaceutical Science, and many others. Internships programs at various IITs and NITs, IT and Banking Sectors is part of the curriculum. Faculty members are experienced in both academics and Industry. Industrial experts visit the campus, to train students in research and industrial opportunities.

FACULTY MEMBER

Dr. Kalyanashis De, Assistant Professor

Dr. De has been 8 years of teaching and an overall research experience of 9 years in the field of Condensed Matter Physics. He did his PhD in Physics and is currently involved in a project regarding the effect of A-site sophisticated disorder on the Electromagnetic properties of ‘A-site   ordered RBaMn2O6 (R= rare earth)’ perovskite. He has received several rewards and recognition, some of which are Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship by UGC, Postdoctoral Fellowship by FCT, Portugal and Senior Research Fellowship by Indian Association from the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata. He has 10 International Publications on his name. Dr. De has been the PI of a project granted by UGC-DAE in CRS scheme for 3 years (2017-19).

Dr. Debajyoti De (LIEN)

Dr. Debajyoti De is serving as a faculty member of TNU since its inception in 2015. Earlier he has worked as Assistant Professor in Neotia Institute of Technology, Management and Science, Institute of Technology and Marine Engineering; as Visiting Professor at Diamond Harbour Women’s University, and as Visiting Scientist at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. He has more than 12 years of teaching and research experience. He is a Gold Medalist in B.Sc. Physics (H) from Vidyasagar University (2006), completed M.Sc Physics from Jadavpur University (2008), Post M.Sc Diploma in Medical Physics from Jadavpur University (2010), and Ph.D. from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (2015). Dr. De’s current research interest includes magnetic nanoparticles, thin films, and graphene-based nanocomposites. Dr. De has published more than 14 research papers in International Journals and presented his research work in more than 30 International/International Conferences/Seminars/Workshops. He is Principal Investigator of ongoing SERB project of amount 37 Lakhs.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Post Graduates in M.Sc. In Applied Physics can join as a Trainee Scientist or as Scientific Officer at BARC, ISRO, IOCL, and in various equivalent research Institutes. They may apply for higher studies in Ph.D. programs in India and abroad as JRF through GATE, NET, JEST, RET, etc. Job opportunities in the research and development domain in the information technology sector are ample. They may also join as Assistant Professor through College Service Commission or Assistant Teacher through School Service Commission.
