Candidates should have a Master’s degree or a degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body of this University, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
Candidates should qualify a written MCQ Examination and will be called for an interview/ counselling. The final selection will be made on the basis of the overall performance of the candidates.
Candidates who have already cleared the UGC/CSIR (JRF) Examinations/NET/GATE/JEST/ SET or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship / Teacher fellowship or have passed equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil./ M.Tech/ M.E or equivalent examination, need to appear only at the interview, skipping the written test.
Ph.D is a doctoral degree with an academic focus. To register in the Ph.D course, the scholar has to complete the course work through regular mode. In a Ph.D course aspirants need to select a topic or a subject and do in-depth research on it and answer any queries related to the topic/ subject. The research programmes mainly focus on the areas of Nanomaterials, Material science,
Environmental nanobioremediation, Graphene, thin film, Surface chemistry, Fluid flow through Porous Media, Mathematical Modelling, Theory of Elastic Waves and Geodynamics etc.
Applications shall be invited through announcements by the university. The interested applicant/s may submit the application for admission in Ph.D program in Basic Science to the Registrar Office of the university. R&D committee of the university shall get in touch with the Controller of Examination Section to conduct the admission entrance test (written mode). In the entrance test, the
50% questions shall be set from the research methodology and the other 50% questions shall be set from relevant subjects. The qualified candidates shall be called for the personal interview, the candidate may be considered for enrolment in the Ph.D program in Basic Science of the university.
Scholar’s research progress shall be evaluated at the end of every six months by the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) constituted for individual scholar. RAC shall be made by considering five faculty members in which one expert must be from outside of TNU. The RAC shall suggest ways to improve the quality of research work of the scholar. The report of RAC shall be
submitted to the R&D committee. The R&D committee shall keep the records and further shall forward the same to Controller of Examination (CoE). The RAC shall be following the Ph.D guideline of The Neotia University while functioning.
Candidates with Ph.D degree may join Colleges/Universities as an Assistant Professor to start their career in academics. Candidates with same qualification may be also hired by several government and private organizations in capacities as Research scientist in Chemical or Pharmaceutical or Biochemical Research laboratory or oil industry, Scientific laboratory officials,
information technology sector, meteorologist, data Scientist, cloud computing architect, software developer, actuarial analyst and so on. There is an abundant scope remains for the persons having PhD degree to start their career as an entrepreneur also. Scholars get the opportunity to work in research labs at IITs, IISERs, NITs, NISER and other supreme research institutes via collaborative research program.
