Seminar on High-Value Crop Management System Under Protected Cultivation

The programme was jointly organized by Sonyc India Irrigation system and the School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences (SAAS), at The Neotia University, Diamond Harbour Campus, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal, on 23rd September 2022 (Friday).  The seminar focused on protected cultivation for Rose and Gerbera including irrigation and climate control and soil less culture under protected cultivation. The seminar was organized for 5th-semester B.Sc. Agriculture students to make them aware of Protected Cultivation and soil less culture. The programme started at 2:30 pm with felicitation to the guests by Dr. Abhishek Ghosh, Assistant Professor, SAAS, followed by welcome address by Dr. B. C. Saha, Professor, SAAS, The Neotia University. Two guests were invited for the session on “High-Value Crop Management System Under Protected Cultivation”. 

Opening remarks of this seminar started by our honourable guest speaker Mr. S Mukherjee, Joint Secretary of Bengal Rose Society, who has highlighted Soil Less Culture. He has developed his speech by comprising media preparation techniques for different crops in India and Israel scenarios.

The seminar has extended by Mr. Bulbul Ghosh, Project Coordinator of Israel Irrigation System, who shared his views and experiences on protected cultivation. He has developed his speech by comprising rose and gerbera cultivation, including irrigation and climate control under poly-house. At the end of his session, he demonstrated different techniques to our students at our poly-house to enhance our student’s practical knowledge. 

Finally, the programme successfully ended at 4.30 pm with a vote of thanks by Mr. Aminul Islam to all the dignitaries and 151 students present in the seminar hall and to the Sonyc India Irrigation system and School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences (SAAS), The Neotia University.
