TNU in Collaboration with The Ramakrishna Mission Institute Of Culture, has organized a One Day National Conference – Nivedita and The Confluence of Minds
The Department of English, The Neotia University (TNU) in Collaboration with The Ramakrishna Mission Institute Of Culture, Gol Park has organized a One Day National Conference – Nivedita And The Confluence Of Minds – in order to commemorate the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Sister Nivedita.
The conference was held on the 25th November 2017 and it has received media coverage from a range of leading national and local newspapers. The inaugural session was graced by the Chief Guest of the conference, Professor Anuradha Lohia – Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Presidency University, Sri Swami Suparnananda Maharaj- Secretary of The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture and Professor Ashok S. Kolaskar -Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of The Neotia University (TNU).
Dr. Dipannita Datta delivered the welcome note to the speakers and the audience. Many scholars, researchers and students from different colleges and universities have attended the conference, and speakers of international repute have presented their papers. Among other dignitaries present at the conference were Dr. Rajeev Verma, Registrar of The Neotia University, HR Head Mr. Suhas Mukherjee, Mr. Angsuman Chatterjee, Director, School of Hospitality and Culinary Art (SHCA) and Dr. Sujoy Biswas, Principal of Neotia Institute of Technology, Management and Science (NITMAS). Faculty members of various Departments of The Neotia University & Neotia Institute of Technology, Management and Science were also present at this conference.
The conference was envisaged as an event to discuss Sister Nivedita’s contribution to the birth of independent India, her influence on the image of women in the sub-continent and her continuing relevance. It ended with a note of resounding appreciation on the life and contributions of Sister Nivedita while providing a platform for interactions between the speakers and the audience. Ms. Koel Mitra delivered the vote of thanks.
