Outreach Activity of School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences

As part of outreach activity of School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, The Neotia University (TNU) a team of faculty members visited Indranarayanpur in Pathar Pratima block of South 24 Parganas, West Bengal on 04th March 2024 being part of TNU approved seed grant project on “Sustainable development of Amphan affected Indranarayan pur village in South 24 Parganas for improving the livelihood of farming communities.” The following activities were performed during the visit:

  • Transplanting of six improved rice varieties with distinct morphological features along with one check variety with accession number (TNU/B/24-1, TNU/B/24-2, TNU/B/24-3, TNU/B/24-4, TNU/B/24-5, TNU/B/24-6 and TNU/B/24-7) were done in the demonstration plot at Indranarayanpur village to evaluate their performance
  • A total of 311 seedlings (50 mango saplings (25 Amrapali, 20 Himsagar, 5 vastara), 100 dragon saplings 146 Drumstick seedlings (ODC-3) and 15 Swieteia macrophylla seedlings) were distributed amongst the farmers of Indranarayanpur village.
  • Collected the socio-economic data of the farmers of Indranarayanpur village.
  • Conducted one meeting with the Upapradhan Mr. Rabindranath Bera regarding the conduction of a Training programme on food processing, animal health and animal vaccination camp
