Md. Ibran Ansari is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Fisheries Engineering, The Neotia University, West Bengal. He holds an MFSc. in Fishing Technology and Engineering from Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), where he received the Best MFSc. Thesis Award for his postgraduate research. His academic and research interests include fishing technology, fishing craft and gear technology, aquaculture development, GIS and remote sensing applications, and sustainable fisheries management. His postgraduate research focused on mapping sustainable sites for fish farming using geotechnology and multi-criteria analysis in Raipur and Dhamtari districts of Chhattisgarh, involving GIS-based site suitability assessment, soil and water quality analysis, pond characterization, and socio-economic evaluation. He is proficient in ArcGIS, QGIS, GPS-based field surveys, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), and Multi-Criteria Analysis (MCA). He has contributed to review papers, book chapters, conference papers, and popular articles in the field of fisheries and aquaculture. His professional interests further include fisheries extension, sustainable aquaculture, rural livelihood development, and the application of modern technologies for the advancement of the fisheries sector.
