Dr. Avishek Bardhan is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Aquatic Animal Health Management at The Neotia University, West Bengal. He holds a Ph.D. in Aquatic Animal Health from the West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, India, where his research focused on fish pathology, antimicrobial resistance, and health management in aquaculture systems. Dr. Bardhan’s research expertise encompasses fish pathology, aquatic microbiology, immunology, and disease diagnostics, with particular emphasis on antibiotic resistance in aquaculture environments. He has contributed extensively to scientific knowledge through numerous research articles published in peer-reviewed journals, including studies on the effects and residues of antibiotics in fish, histopathological responses in cultured species, and indicators of fish health such as erythrocytic biomarkers. His publication record reflects sustained engagement with critical issues in aquatic animal health, including antimicrobial resistance in bacterial pathogens of fish, pharmacokinetics of therapeutic agents in farmed species, and histopathological assessment techniques vital to sustainable aquaculture practices. Dr. Bardhan has also been recognized with awards for his research contributions, notably the Young Scientist Award at ICAATAS 2023 and the Best PhD Thesis Award at SCALFE 2023 for his work on fish erythrocytes and antibiotic response mechanisms. In addition to his research and teaching roles, he is an active member of scholarly communities including The Asia Society of Researchers (ASR) and an associate member of EuroScience. At TNU, Dr. Bardhan continues to lead academic activities in aquatic health sciences, mentor students in advanced research, and uphold laboratory safety and quality research standards that support both educational excellence and scientific progress in fisheries and aquaculture.
