Wetlands Day Celebration

The Division of Fisheries Science, The Neotia University recently celebrated World Wetland Day with a series of programs, including a National Seminar(virtual) entitled “Recent Advances in Wetland Conservation and Management.” led by Prof. H. Shivananda Murthy, Dean & Chair Professor of the Division of Fisheries Science, the event brought together eminent and distinguished speakers and passionate students to discuss critical issues on wetland conservation and management.
National Seminar Highlights:
The following experts presented lead papers in the Seminar
Dr. Raman Trivedi, Professor and Head of Dept. of Aquatic Environment Management, West Bengal University of Animal and Fisheries Science, Kolkata;
Dr. Biju Kumar, Professor and Head of Dept. of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries, University of Kerala; Dr. Poonam Prakash, Professor and Head (Retired) From Dept. of Fisheries Resource and Management, RPCAU, Bihar.
The inaugural session commenced with an introduction to the event’s purpose by Dr. H. S. Murthy. He also welcomed the dignitaries and speakers. Prof. Biswajit Ghosh, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of The Neotia University, delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Vikas Pathak and Dr. Suman Karmakar coordinated the program. The seminar attracted more than 100 diverse audience with in India and abroad.
Student Activities on Wetlands:
In addition to the webinar, students actively participated in Debate and Poster presentations showcased innovative ideas of students during post seminar events. All the Faculty members of the Division provided guidance and support throughout the activities.
