Dr. Wasim Akram Shaikh

Assistant Professor

Dr. Shaikh graduated in Chemistry (B.Sc. Hons.) from Aligarh Muslim University and received his postgraduation degree (M.Sc.) in Environmental Science from The University of Burdwan scoring 1st division marks with overall university 2nd rank in post-graduation. After completing PG, he joined as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a DST-SERB funded project in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. Subsequently, he received Ph.D. from BIT Mesra on a problem-orientated topic focusing on small-scale textile industrial wastewater treatment using biochar-based nanocomposite. He has published 19 research articles in several reputed SCI journals, 06 book chapters, and presented 16 research papers at national and international (Seoul, South Korea) conferences(https://scholar.google.co.in/citations?hl=en&user=OHsEvkQAAAAJ). He also has served as a reviewer in some top tier journals of Elsevier (Environmental Pollution, Colloids and Surfaces: A Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, and Groundwater for Sustainable Development), Springer (Environmental Chemistry Letters, Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery, and SN Applied Sciences), and RSC (New Journal of Chemistry). 

His research interest includes the following: 

❖ Water pollution (Monitoring and Control) 

❖ Wastewater treatment 

❖ Remediation and adsorption technique 

❖ Emerging contaminants and micro-pollutant removal from water 

❖ Environmental nanotechnology 

❖ Nanocomposite
