Dr. Wasim Akram Shaikh

Dr.Wasim Akram Shaikh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Basic Science, School of Integrated Sciences, TNU. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra. With over eight years of research experience, Dr. Shaikh’s expertise lies in environmental nanotechnology, biochar-based nanocomposites, wastewater treatment, waste valorization, and the monitoring and remediation of emerging contaminants, including heavy metals, dyes, microplastics, and PFAS.
Dr. Shaikh has published 27 research articles in SCI-indexed journals (including 21 in Q1 journals), along with several book chapters and conference papers. His work has garnered more than 1,500 citations, with an h-index of 21, reflecting the strong impact of his research. He is a recipient of the “Biochar Outstanding Paper Award (2023–2024)” and the prestigious Maulana Azad National Fellowship awarded by UGC, Government of India. He currently serves as the Principal Investigator of a university-funded research project titled “Biogenic Adsorbents for the Removal of Environmental Contaminants.”
In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Shaikh serves as an Editorial Board Member of ‘AgroEnvironmental Sustainability’ and ‘Future Earth and Environmental Science’. He is also an active reviewer for several high-impact international journals, including: Chemical Engineering Journal, Environmental Chemistry Letters, Environmental Pollution, Environmental Research, Science of the Total Environment, Journal of Environmental Management, Bioresource Technology, Scientific Reports, among others.
