Dr. Sharmistha Das is an assistant professor in the Department of Biotechnology at The Neotia University. Previously, she has 6 years of industrial experience in Research & Development and Quality control. Dr. Das holds a Bachelor degree in Microbiology from the University of Calcutta and a Master degree in the same field from West Bengal State University. She completed her PhD in Biotechnology from The Neotia University under the supervision of Prof. Prosun Tribedi. Her doctoral research focused on uncovering mechanisms to combat microbial biofilm- linked infections using piperine, a natural compound. Currently, her research is centered on drug resistance in pathogenic microorganisms- one of the most pressing global health challenges. As of now, she has authored 2 book chapters and 16 research papers published in various renowned peer- reviewed journals.
