Ms. Camelia Chattopadhyay

Assistant Professor (Adhoc. Grade 1)

Ms. Camelia Chattopadhyay is an Assistant Professor (Ad hoc. Grade 1) in the Faculty of Fisheries Science at The Neotia University, West Bengal. Currently pursuing a PhD in Aquaculture with an impressive OGPA of 9.04/10, she holds a Master of Fisheries Science (Fisheries Extension) from the prestigious ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai. Her academic excellence is highlighted by ranking 77th in the All India ICAR-JRF (AIEEA) examination. With over three years of teaching experience, she actively supervises rural fisheries work and extension activities for undergraduate students. Ms. Chattopadhyay is a dedicated researcher with several notable publications in the field of fishery science and extension. Her published works include a socioeconomic study of tribes in the Purulia district and research on the role of regional rural banks in financing self-help groups. Her forthcoming research, accepted in Scopus-indexed journals, focuses on the Validation and Strategic Integration of Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) in West Bengal fisheries and the production economics of Cobia farming. Additionally, she has authored multiple articles on topics ranging from Makhana cultivation to oceanic acidification in prominent magazines like Aquastar and Krishi Jagran. Ms. Chattopadhyay was recently honored with The Best Extension Scientist Award at the National Conference FutureAg in 2025.
