Capt. Diptesh Bhattacharya

Capt Diptesh Bhattacharya passed with a First Class from T.S.Rajendra and joined Scindia Steam Navigation Co. As a cadet and later joined various Companies including World Wide Shipping Agency,Hong Kong, Geepee Shipping,Anglo Eastern Shipping Agency and V Ships.

V ships and Anglo Eastern Shipping are the two largest shipping companies in the world.
Obtained equivalence BSc degree from Mumbai University and passed MICS (London) specializing in Tanker Chartering and Ship sale and Purchase.
Was a pioneer in Maritime education in Eastern India as was one of the Master Mariners who joined Capt. J.K.Bose as a Faculty in 1994 when Indian Institute of Port Management, Kolkata just started Post sea Courses under the Director General Shipping. Was a Faculty at IIPM for over 3 years.

Research expertise

From 1998 sailed in ships as Captain on ships sailing from above the Arctic Circle to the Magellan straits carrying various cargoes . Achieved numerous Safety Awards as Master in Anglo Eastern ships. Was part of a Search and Rescue Mission where  a sailor was rescued from a ship after falling overboard and surviving more than 12 hours in the sea water in the South China Sea.
33 years  sea experience , 19 years of which was spent as Master commanding ships traded in all the continents of the world.
Earlier was part time Faculty in Trident Marine College, Seacom and Sensea.
Presently HOD Bachelor of Nautical Science Dept. also an examiner for GP Ratings .
Presented an abstract (“ Impact of Globalisation and Water Pollution : A Study on Plastic Wastes”) in Tripura University at the 48th Regional Science Conference at Agartala which was an International Seminar.
