Commemoration of First Harvest of Biofertilizers

The “Commemoration of First Harvest of Biofertilizers” organized by Agriculture Unit, School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, The Neotia University at Biofertilizer Production Unit, SB II Building on 17th October 2022 (Monday).

The programme was started in presence of Prof. (Dr.) Biswajit Ghosh, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, The Neotia University, Dr. Manish Jha, Hon’ble Registrar, The Neotia University and Mr. Suhas Mukherjee, Assistant Vice President, The Neotia University. Prof. Dr. Sushil Kumar Kothari, Dean, School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, The Neotia University while welcoming all guests, colleagues and students highlighted the significance of biofertilizer production in the context of reducing chemical fertilizer usage and agriculture research in general. Prof. (Dr.) Biswajit Ghosh addressed his valuable thinking to the beloved students regarding importance and way forward in biofertilizer research. All the dignitaries visited the three vermicompost pits containing live vermicompost with earthworms, one NADEP compost pit, one Azolla pinnata pit and one pit containing blue green algae (BGA) also. Inauguration of zero energy cooling chamber by the hand of Dr. Biswajit Ghosh was also part of the programme. Students of 5th Semester, B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. showed biofertilizer harvesting (vermicomposting) through sieving and packaging (1 kg packet) infront of all the dignitaries and faculties of School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, The Neotia University. Students and faculties of TNU participated in the programme. Dr. Soumen Chatterjee, Head, Innovation and EDC, The Neotia University also delivered his valuable knowledge regarding entrepreneurship development from production of different kind of biofertilizers.

Finally, the programme successfully ended with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Sushil Kumar Kothari, Dean, School of Agriculture and Allied Sciences, The Neotia University.
