Report on the three days training program for fish farmers on High-tech aquaculture organized by the Division of Fisheries Science
The Division of Fisheries Science of The Neotia University has organized a three day physical/ on-campus training program for selected 50 fish farmers during 8-10 February, 2023 in the Seminar Hall of the SB-3 Building.
The inaugural function was held on 8th at 11.00 AM. Vice Chancellor Dr Biswajith Ghosh, Mr. Suhas Mukherjee, the Asst Vice President and Head, Admission Dept., Mr. Manish Jha, Registrar, Prof H Shivananda Murthy, Chair Professor, Mr. Debtanu Barman, CEO of Corporate Aquaculture Companies participated in the inauguration. An MOU will also be signed with the Corporate Fisheries Industries name, Aqua Doctor Solutions, Aqua Once Center and Aqua World, during the inaugural ceremony.
Out of 50 farmers, more than 15 women fish farmers participated, contributing to gender equality and women empowerment. Four external experts, Prof H Shivannada Murthy, Faculty of the Fisheries Division were involved and delivered the lectures on different aspects in the training program. In addition to practical demonstrations in the campus, a field visit to a high-tech private fish farm was organized.
On the evening of the last day, the Valedictory function was organized. The Pro-chancellor of the TNU, Mr. P J Agrawal sir participated, addressed and interacted with fish farmers and handed over participation certificates to the farmers. Dr. Partha Mukherjee, Dean of School of Science & Technology, Dr. Rupam Ghosh, Director of School of Hospitality & Culinary Art also participated in the valedictory function and distributed the certificates.
